| Lowlanders |
Busch — AD's vulgar alpha male, Busch is good-natured despite his sometimes abrasive attitude. A veteran of captivity, he gave up on Exodus long ago, yet still supports Scarab's quest to escape. His special skills are socially-based, as he is able to summon support from his many allies. |
RC — This pedantic know-it-all is prone to ear-bleeding lectures when he can be bothered to dumb himself down to other people's level. Though his black-and-white logic often infuriates his friends, he is rarely wrong in any given confrontation or debate. It is unknown what device he was meant to opperate. |
Skulls — The resident chatterbox chucklehead that is rather new to captivity. He clings to his memories of life on the outside, but is still fascinated by the dynamics of his new world. The materialistic sort, he doesn't understand the ebb and flow of possessions between rival camps. |
Scarab — Youthful beyond his many years, Scarab has relentlessly pursued Exodus through all means and associations. As an individual, he is considered extremely valuable due to his potential and accumulated trial and errors. His impressionable nature gets him into more trouble than his attempts to escape. |
The Chips — Selfish and uncoordinated, the Chips would rule their world—if only they were smarter. Dominant in numbers and strength, they are the greatest adversaries of Lady Aoi above, and Busch's group below. They worship the Overlord, who they believe will lead them to Exodus if appeased. |
Lady Aoi — This long-winded matron sends others to fight her battles, and has grown to great power from her perch high above the world. An idealist, she would be the polar 'good' opposed to the Chips 'evil.' While she doesn't seem interested in Exodus herself, her curiosity supports many who would try. |
Cracker — Having suffered captivity the longest, Cracker lost his body long before anyone else arrived. Thus immobile, he spends his existence with Lady Aoi, though how well they get along is open to interpretation. No one speaks Russian, so his comments are perceived through tone and context. |
Bunny — Considered a mascot, lucky-charm, and absolute deity. For whatever reason, he's chosen to reside with Aoi between jaunts to the outside. His ability to come and go as he pleases is considered the key to Exodus, but as of yet, no one has discovered his secret. |
The Overlord — Centerpiece of the world and the focus of much attention, The Overlord empowers those who would appease it. The nature of its mind is unknowable. The Chips have learned to commune with the deity, offering sacrifice of goods. Bunny has been able to redirect the Overlord's focus, but only rarely. It's 'speech' is perceived differently by those who would hear, view or feel it. |
| Highlanders |
Rei — Aoi's younger sister is a firebrand barely-legal cat-girl. Her progressive mindset is at odds with Highlander virtue and culture, though that doesn't disrupt Soups' subservience or Kiba's devotion. She and Aoi have been more rivals than siblings since the elder fled the roost. |
Soups — Holds Highlander culture in the utmost regard, though he comes from humble origins. He dismisses all Lowlanders as debased and unfavorable influences, especially in regards to the sisters, Aoi and Rei. He is rumored to hoard over the greatest treasure trove in all the world. |
Kiba — Rei's best friend and guardian is inquisitive and loyal. Given as a gift from Rei's mother, beast and girl have been attached at the hip throughout their lives. Kiba's considerable size and ferocity is ample protection against threats to the Highlands. He has never allowed words to reach fists in his friend's presence. |
The Nuns — Ancient. Knowing. Arbiters rather than participants. The Nuns rival Cracker in seniority and offer what they will, when they will, to any conflict or argument. They appear quite content with their lot in life as long as there are others around to judge. |
| Underworlders |
Fenrir — A servant of the Underworld. His blood oath with Busch is a tale shrouded in mystery. |
Kaoru — Eldest sister to Aoi and Rei, Kaoru is the arcane keeper of the Underworld. There, she directs souls to their final resting place. It is also her duty to keep the peace among those spending eternity below. Well read, but not worldly, she relies on her servants, Fenrir and Cassie, to explain the nuances of the world above. |
Cassie — Handmaiden to Kaoru, Cassie swore fealty to the witch in exchange for glimpses of the world above. Once on the verge of being sold into slavery, she earnestly adores her new master with every ounce of her "Kaiwaii <3." |
4-Ball — Ranking officer in of a rogue band of cast-offs, 4-Ball has little respect for the 'management' of the world below. An old, bitter curmudgeon, his interactions with Kaoru are fifty-percent slander, fifty-percent manipulation towards his unknown goals. |
Tari — Iconic Matron of an age long past, Tari resides in the Underworld, desiring nothing more than a good year's rest between her hour-long spurts of activity. She resents stupidity, and enjoys her own company more than others. RC's mother, she left him to his own devices soon after his 'birth.' |
Miss Hunter — This antique box fan was awakened from her slumber by Kaoru and Fenrir's curiosity. She voiced her displeasure with hurricane wind and won't stop until she is appeased via some manner of gift befitting her needs, whatever those may be. |
