Aarin's Desk & Debasement Glossary

Lingo of the AD / DB Universe

Aarin's Desk  —  Acronymed down to AD. This is the complete tale of the Highlands, Lowlands, Outlands, and Underworld of an alcoholic writer's workspace and home. Captive objects (read: characters) fight amongst each other over power, virtue, and an esoteric concept named Exodus.

Aarin  —  Does not appear in these comics in any way, shape, or form. Fuck Aarin for putting such noble entities through such suffering.

Age  —  Since everyone is inorganic, there is no decay in age, only wear and tear. Mortality exists, but 'ageing' does not. See [time].

AZN  —  Asian. AZN girlz are a popular fetish, and apparently for Fenrir as well.

Baka desu~  —  In Japanese, Baka translates to idiot or moron and is flagrantly overused by English-speaking animu/mangu fans. Desu is also Wapanese disambiguation of Japanaese speech, a near-meaningless pronoun used without regard for proper grammar. See emoticons for an overview on Cassie's speech and the almighty tilde ( ~ ).

Catgirls  —  Also known as Neko (cat), they exist in the AD universe with the genetic frequency of blond hair or tongue-rolling. Not to be confused with furries. Furries are the cat-were to a catgirl's were-cat. It's confusing, but true.

Commerce  —  Goods such as pens, paperclips, scissors, post-its, coins, and the near-priceless spoons are traded to and from different factions of the desk, and between Highland and Lowland. A barter system, it focuses more on the usefulness of the items than any representative value.

Debasement  —  Acronymed down to DB. This is the story of Kaoru, Keeper of the Underworld. Her servants instruct her on the ways of the world above that she might better relate to those entering her eternal charge.

Emoticons  —  Cassie speaks like this: "Z0MG @_@ BAKA D3SU~!1" employing internet messenger short-hand, ascii/IRC emoticons, l33+, and a bevy of misspellings, Japanese fangirl phrases, and the almighty tilde ( ~ ). Research is available in wikipedia, google, and experience if you're that curious how to sound like a net-tard.

Exodus  —  Escape from captivity, or a greater power? This is the driving force and main mystery of AD.

Futa (a genre)  —  Dickgirls may either be hermaphrodites or a 'female' with a penis (often via magic or a special ability). The appeal of this is beyond me, but apparently watching a girl penetrate another girl is hotter than seeing a man do it. Futa is often creepy as fuck.

Holidays  —  Denizens of all lands like to celebrate Christmas, Valentines, April Fool's, Easter, Talk-like-a-Pirate-Day, Halloween, and any other excuse to cut loose. These comics are mostly out-of-canon, meaning not in the stories' actual timeline.

Loli  —  Dumb-ass pseudo-intellectualism on the etymology aside, Loli is not synonymous with pedophilia, but it's damn close. The fetish for prepubescent girls overlaps whether their breasts are budding or not. Depending on one's fandom, in animu/mangu it's damn near accepted to Fap to a thirteen-year-old girl. As of yet, animated/drawn loli-porn it's a gray area for American child exploitation laws, though other countries have taken a stand for or against this 'art.' Loli is a source of constant debate and jokes in animu/mangu communities.

NSFW  —  Not Safe For Work. Meaning porn or themes of a 'suggestive nature.'

Pr0n  —  Pornography, lifeblood of a young male (aside from booze), the virtues of which are constantly debated in both AD and BD.

Sauce  —  Source. Image source specifically, and the parent gallery as a whole if applicable.

Summons  —  Some captives have the ability to summon blood-oathed allies when in danger. Aoi is linked with Bunny, Rei to Kiba, Busch and Koaru both to Fenrir, and The Chips (of sort) to The Overlord. Others, such as Vegita and Cracker rely on their own personal strength.

Time  —  Time moves the same in captivity, but most begin recounting their age from the day they were taken from the outside world. Since memories of the outside world fade for all, this becomes the only useful means of assessing wisdom and experience. While Scarab is far older than Busch, his amnesia and quarter-time spent makes him a child among more experienced captives. At the moment Cracker is the 'eldest,' with the Nuns close behind. Skulls is the youngest of all, in all ways.

Visibox  —  What Kaoru calls the picture box in Debasement. Unlike the Overlord in the world above, this device is non-sentient and compliant.
