Exodus
To be honest, when I started this Chipstack arc way back at episode 44, it seemed like a great way to mix up the cast, add conflict, and let the B-team (Skulls, RC, and Scarab) have a shot at making a difference.
That proved to be problematic.
First was the fact our B-team includes the youngest and most underpowered members of the cast, highland or not. Second was inventing ways for the Chips to assert themselves, which I've mostly done off-screen. Lastly, knowing what I know, the Chips are more of a sympathetic evil than truly vile.
The B-team's greatest strength isn't their resistance, it's their naivety.
All that being said, the truth behind Exodus and the nature of captivity is far more broad and strange than even I imagined nine months ago. This is why I write off outlines, not scripts. With dynamic characters, they don't just write their past, present, and future, but the very lore around them.
No, I'm not taking a story about talking poker chips too seriously. Yes, I'm having a lot of fun.
