Aarin’s Gutter ~ Commentary
I may as well explain who’s here and why:
Play with the numbers - Hinoi team makes me smile, pure and simple. This video is the para-para version, AZN linedancing. Often, the first thing anyone notices is the boots. Sort of fitting, considering that parallel.
—————————————
Best Fikshun evar - A 30+ chapter, epic Harry Potter/goth/vampire fanfic, My Immortal is a star in the ’bait-fiction’ galaxy. The drama and account-hacking surrounding this project borders on legendary.
(Movie ver - At the bottom of this AE page are links to visually assisted readings of My Immortal, all for great lulz).
Overdrive - IOSYS is a sort of meme among animu circles. This high energy music project makes these little flash videos and games that feature reoccuring characters and perhaps some manner of cohesive narrative. The moonspeak overload and general insanity is glorious.
Can’t criticize me - Not just an iconic PA strip, but a true statement about ‘ma artistk integraty’ as it pertains to nearly 80% of the shit I put out there. Webcomics anyone?
Hypnotic - Well, Leekspin.com appears to be down, so here’s a mirror. The eternal loop, with the Loituma Levan-Polka bebop, drives most minds into beta-wave hypnosis and/or psychosis (if viewed for over ninety minutes). This my longest was twenty. Loituma really is an awesome band though.
Snoop’s Dreamland - No explaination offered except the timing is 97% perfect. Also looped, though the full version takes about four minutes to reach its repeat. I hated this song when it came out. I consider this a vast improvement. I wish I had the mp3.
Chainsaw bird (nature ftw!) - Yes, this is real.
Pet of the week (critical hit!!) - Pinky might be the most badass cat in the world. “Excuse my language.” ZLOL.
Wallpaper peeps (OK GO) - They always make cool videos, but this one is my fav. It’s like a talent show on LSD. The song ain’t half bad either. It’s one of the few music videos I’d be interested in ‘the making of.’ I bet the set and production was a blast/pain-in-the-ass. Pure fun.
Modern State of Sexual Consent - I could almost see this happening (without the laywers, that is). This is filled with so many lulz as to surpass epic and enter the realm of godly. Tummy Kissing ftw. Social castration indeed.
Frying lizard eggs with Drew - “There’s things we can do.” I quote this at work all the time when I’m fixing fuck ups. And the oil does spread like it doesn’t give a crap. I would DVR this cooking show in an instant. Sadly, I live in west-central Ohio and not central Ohio, or I may too be able to devour a mythical endangered species.
Haloid (fun sci-fi fight) - Looks better in small-screen rez. Very matrix~y (obviously: including the music) but the choreography is very creative in an intentional over-the-top way. Massive fucking kills. I’ve owned The Wingless’ credits music remix for like, five years now. Neat seeing that pop up.
Martin Scorsese’s Sesame Street - Can you see this coming out next summer? It’s the logical progression.
I My Me Mine - Polysics need moar luv. The dance style, ‘popping,’ isn’t altered throughout the video beyond the obvious effects–I think it looks cool. This also features the only lead recorder (instrument) I’ve ever heard in my life. Polysics are very talented, if totally bizarre.
Addiction - The Livejournal random image generator is a grab-bag of intriguing, lulz, beautiful, pron (ususally Russian), and eye-bleed. As a fan of the visual arts/media, I usually find something intesresting in a search of fifty, and sometimes refresh three times in a session. This is really a fascinating page.
Cooking by the book - Where the meme started. Yes, I sing this at work. No, I’m not a pedophile (14 yr old Stephanie’s main fame is as pedo-bait). Yes, Lazy Town is generally creepy.
—————————————
Needs - Moar - Alizee \o/ - The best pop star France has to offer, and she’s worldwide platinum to boot. I really don’t think I need to explain this.
—————————————
If you like donuts - Drew makes all his own music. You should really check out his other videos and his comic. I’m not a pug fan, but in this context, it’s made of win.
Best page on the intrawebs - AAAAAAAAAA! (Click any link on that wiki-page for great justice–should keep you busy for hours)
Nana Dance (.swf) - Yay for more loops. I don’t remember who made it, so I’m just hosting it–not claiming credit. Nana is a armless, legless character in Elfen Lied, and hijacked by Dan Kim’s dark-comedy Doujin, Nana’s Everyday Life.
[/Numa] - I’d be remiss not to include the obligatory Numa Numa, if just because there’s still people out there who haven’t seen the original. Is it just me, or is the Numa guy kind of hawt?
Making motivation - Example - Another fun tool, this one supports the motivational poster meme, that’s at least a thousand years old, no muss, no fuss. If you ever feel inclined to e-mail me your motivations, I’ll host and post them.
Holy Diiiivar!! - If you ever saw the original Dio version, you’d know that this cover, twenty years coming, is abso-fucking-lutely epic on so many levels.
Dragonforce - The last two minutes of this up-and-coming retro-hair-metal band’s video isn’t just amazing in skill, but full of roffels. I love artists who don’t take themselves seriously. Honestly, DF is worth the attention they’ve been getting.
—————————————
Toss - the - fucking - feathers - I’m a proud Corrs fan, and I’ll shop them whenever I get the opportunity. From their instrumental arrangements to the harmonic vocals, there’s really nothing they don’t do well. They’re in my top three, ever, based on sheer enjoyment. Take the Encore as a bonus, and the Bonus lulz as a well-received parody (they used to show the clip before their perfomances.)
—————————————
Bake a cheesecake tonight: Srusly - Cheesecake is easy and delicious. No skills required. Just do it. You’ll thank me later.
—————————————
Waka Laka Time! - First, if you haven’t seen Azumanga Daioh, you can get the whole thing for 50$ which is a goddamn bargain for 6 discs, 24 eps, even if you’ve never really been into animu before. Second, you just can’t find a more smile-inducing song than wakalaka, a DDR brainfuck. Third, there can never be too much Osaka in this world.
Proper grammar - As I’m sure you know, the debasement of language via le enternets is a key focus of my passtime studies. The apostrophe is a leading offender, not to be outdone by the almighty tilde ~ which I don’t think has any legitimate usage.
Jump, Gypsy, Jump! - A modern classic, filled with memorable one-liners, whether you’ve played the games or not (I haven’t). I want enuf munney to get on the dope-ass Disney train :(
Test your vocab for charity - So, what are you an idiot or not? You can at least stay over twenty-eight, I hope. If not, you need to read moar.
My anus is bleeding! (grab a beer) - Yeah, I think I’m personally spiralling down to this level. Maybe that window already passed, but the yearning is definitely there, I just need to embrace it. Might be some of the best 9 minutes in your day.
———–hard break————-
Porkchop Sandwiches / Mr. Lefitty - I think I saw the famous ‘body massage’ one years and years ago, but I was unaware of these others until Ems shared them with me over the holidays. Epic lulz. For those with patience enough to sift through some chuckles for the great ones, there’s a collection 1 and collection 2.
Abercrombie is about… - 24 minutes that feels more like 10. I’ve never been much of a Mad TV fan, but this level of truth-about-marketing takes simple homoerotic ha-ha’s, and transcends itself into a full-out social satire. Good stuff.
Lets get some shoes, OMG - 4 minutes that feels more like 10. Apparently this one is famous (looking at the view-count). “You have too many shoes,” is so eloquenty followed by a generation-capturing, “shut up.” Add loops then fight about it for 25k posts in a Youtube comment thread.
—————————————
Little bit - Don’t let me go tonight - Lykke Li, a star is born. And maybe no one will ever hear of her. Minimalist, European beats (Swedish); soft, underdeveloped, chirpy voice; lots of depth within the timbre and lyrics. I’m an insta-fan and am keeping tabs on this one.

Re: Dragonforce. Patrick is a fan. They actually came to OKC last fall and Patrick got to see them live. He said they were awesome. (He just watched that video and I could hear him laughing.)
Through the Fire and the Flames is on Guitar Hero III. Apparently it’s almost impossible to play.
