My approach to photography developed in chemical darkrooms long before digitial photography was widely accessible. This is my 'art.'

A brief 'about':

Without apology or pretence, this is amateur equipment.

I use a Fuji S5100 (4MP) for studio and my 'high profile' shots. Well, the viewfinder is busted and there’s no image stabilization, so it’s pretty much point-and-pray.

For ‘day to day’ snapshots, I use a Kodak Easyshare M753 (7MP), and abuse the fuck out of its auto-scene-settings, usually avoiding the flash unless circumstances are dire. My Promaster monopod has been a godsend, and you’re only recently seeing the results of stabilized, non-flash photography.

For adjustments and photo-manip, I use Photoshop 7 standard--a legal copy. Since I still don’t really understand or utilize the total depth of the program, I’ve never felt the need to upgrade. Most commonly I use contrast/saturation/colorize, and go-to filters such as Gaussian Blur, Diffuse Glow, Film Grain, and Dark Strokes. Most of the time it’s only at weak strength or 50%, just to add whatever spice I feel would make the image more dynamic. Even as a filter user, I tend to believe that less is more when it comes to adjustments.
