Jacob is a precocious, tween, just shy of genius. Twelve, he runs not only his house (almost by default) but his teachers too, setting his own course and schedule. Since the death of his father, he has no real buffer between him, his mother's promiscuity, and his sister's partying. More judgemental than he lets on, he's about a year away from full-blown teenage angst--his taste in punk music being an early sign, and hardcore atheism another.

Unlike his dad and sister, he has no interest or aptitude for sports, and instead spends his time gaming and on 'recreational studies' in astrophysics and maps of the cosmos.
