Frequently Asked Questions

Brought to you by Pharis Lowe, communication's student and party-girl extraordinaire.

Pharis : Ok, so where am I?

Anatali : Universe is home to an innovative science fiction project, offering stort stories and exclusive online content.

Set in and around 4128 A.D. it's an era where humanity has recently reached nearby stars, corporations compete with federations and kingdoms, and a paranormal curse threatens catastrophe from within a new science. Standard science fiction? Think again. The stories are told from the hearts of a dozen teens and twenty-somethings as confused, courageous, deranged and defiant as anyone you've ever met.

Learn more about the setting and characters in the Anatali Primer and other links on the left.

Pharis : What else ya got?

Not what you're used to from a writer's website. Not only does A:U include exclusive backstory, historical timeline, glossary, author and character information, it's also updated regularly with all-new content such as an endless run of short stories, deleted scenes, bonus goodies and my blog. Check the “New Content!” window on A:U's homepage to find recent updates.

Pharis : Ambitious much? Are you collaborating with other writers, or is this some kind of masochistic road trip using lack of sleep as your car?

Uh...Well, while it's true I'm doing all this alone, the work is fun. I like to produce.

Pharis : So what about forums? I might like to talk to other science fiction fans.

The forums are closed, waiting on fine people like you to strike up a conversation. Things should really pick up around release time, and will eventually be public.

Pharis : Release time? That reminds me. When will Anatali: Eternal or Survival be published?

That depends. I've honed the novels to a pure polish and am shopping them to literary agents. Between representation and publishing editors, the timetable is out of my hands. So my answer is, "eventually." Enjoy the excerpts, short stories, exclusive content and speculation in the meantime.

Pharis : What about self-publishing?

*Laughter*

Pharis : It was an honest question, don't be an ass. Still, about the website, what's a Goodie?

Goodies are bits of content lumped into a frequently updated part of the site. It'll have sketches, behind-the-scenes articles, original lyrics, press reviews and whatever else I want to share—general Anatali goodness. This site was born for random entertainment.

Pharis : And the gallery?

I figured I'd put my hot-shit camera to use and pretty up the place. I'm a photographer, not an illustrator. It's a collection of all the art and fan-art found here.

Pharis : Might be cool...Here's another one. How do I pronounce Anatali? It's not an English word, is it?

No, it's a made-up word like Canadia. Phonetically it goes, "ah nat al ee." Then say it fast.

Pharis : Gotcha, but with all this online, aren't you worried about someone stealing your concept and short stories?

Not in the least. Outright plagiarism is pretty rare in the literary world; much less than one would think. I own the copyright to my work because I created it and presented it here. Anyone dumb enough to claim my stuff and sell it as their own would simply be outed as a fraud. It's easier, safer, and way more fun to create your own universe, so I feel confident and secure with what I'm doing.

Pharis : "Aarin's Desk, a webcomic satire, updated twice a week"? What were you, high?

Drunk. Big difference. The misadventures of my anthropomorphic helpers is truly a beautiful insanity to behold. It's spin-off, Debasement, showcases the evils of the internet and the subcultures that have developed within it.

Pharis : Whatever, last question for now. What's up with this web design? It looks like some shit my grandma could pull off.

I think it's pretty. You should have seen version 1.0.

Pharis : I can imagine.

I p0wn, B. You just can't handle the flava.

Pharis : Why is it websites ran by artists always have combative, asinine FAQ's?

Because artists have short tempers and think they're clever. Luckily I'm no artist--I'm an arteest /o/

Pharis : Fine. We're done here. How do I contact you if I want to flame you again?

aarinedwards@gmail.com, enjoy.
