Situated near the center of Anatali District A, the Academy's first classes began March 12, 4126. The oblong oval dominates its high-rise cookie-cutter peers, earning it a nickname, The Egg.
Following a rich tradition of corporate universities and vocational studies, the Academy is the most prestigious source of higher education on Anatali Station. It teaches two hundred thousand students, and its dormitories host half of that.
Modern education isn't limited by age—many people live well over three centuries. It's not uncommon for a teenager to share a class with an eighty year old. Most children attend mandatory school for thirteen years then enter prep school for three. Around the age of twenty-one they apply to universities, though overachievers skip years.
The Academy opened at half capacity to set enrollment rotation. Two terms along, there's a long list of those waiting to attend and even more who haven't qualified. Most need a fortune or something special to be accepted. Focused less on academics and more on real world training, major programs are as followed:
- Administration — Business, marketing and corporate management.
- Agriculture — Profitable yet plain.
- Communications — From a bridge's terminal to journalism.
- DETH — Dark Energy Theory is the Academy's toughest program.
- Fine Arts and Literature — A token program for the rich and useless.
- Law Enforcement — Where future ASAs get their start.
- Maintenance Engineering — General labor is more complicated than it sounds.
- Medical — Doctors and nurses both receive their basic schooling through here.
- Mining and Decompiling — A popular blue-collar course.
- Piloting — Commercial shuttles to mining vehicles, a highly competitive program.
- Programming — With an over-stacked job market, this field only attracts talent.
Like all modern colleges, the Academy is fully co-ed. When it opened students called the dormitory assignments 'The Lottery,' hoping to room in doubles, quads and barracks with attractive classmates. Results were varied and sexual misconduct remains, as always, rare.
The Academy features massive auditoriums, sprawling labs, and a network of hyperlifts making travel a breeze. Academy Campus Square and several cafeterias receive a constant flow of students who rarely leave The Egg. Commuters are viewed as either too rich or too poor live amongst the others.
